Week 6 Blog Post

I went through my project with Agnes and received many insightful suggestions that I will be incorporating in my website.

First, I started by giving some basic introduction, and explaining what Hazara Genocide is. Since, the website should be self-explanatory, I read from the website to simulate a real experience. An important suggestion that came first was the use of images. Agnes mentioned that we see numbers on a daily basis, and to some extent we become desensitized. It would be better to include images of Hazara people, their culture, including music, clothes, food and etc. in order to connect and truly empathize with the population. That being said, I am planning to include more cultural aspects of Hazara people in my website.

Another important suggestion was to include the population size of Hazaras as it is a very important to know the scale of the atrocities against Hazaras. Also, it would be helpful if I incorporate more maps into my project to help the audience better understand this devastating Genocide. These maps can include, population data, displacement map, religion map of Afghanistan. However, we have to consider that in most cases lack of data and time makes it harder to map them all.

Lastly, we talked about having additional sections such as a Keep Learning, Call to Action, and About the Author sections. The first two are useful if someone wants to learn more about Hazaras or is motivated to take an action. The latter is not only to take credit but also to take responsibility of the work that has been done, and providing contact information if one wants to connect.
