I’m really excited about joining the Digital Scholarship Student Research Fellowship program. It’s a great opportunity for me to combine my interests in Computer Science and Film/Media Studies. The fellowship gives me the chance to do an independent research project that brings these two areas together, which I think is a new and interesting way to look at these fields.I’m especially interested in using digital tools like Tableau for data visualization, social media analysis, and more to enhance my final project.
Another thing I really like about the fellowship is the focus on sharing research work with the public. I want my research to help people and make a difference in society. The fellowship will give me the chance to gain practical research experience and improve my skills in a supportive and challenging environment, which I think will be very beneficial for my time at Bucknell and beyond.
The project I’ve proposed about the impact of digital technologies on film distribution is an example of the kind of work I’m excited about. It combines Computer Science and Film/Media Studies in a way that I think is really relevant and important.
My research project will look at how digital technologies are changing the way films are distributed and shown. This is a really important area to look at because the digital revolution is changing the film industry in big ways. I want to understand these changes, how they’re affecting people’s experience of cinema, and what the wider social and economic impacts are.
I’ll be looking at a few key parts of this change. First, I’ll investigate how streaming platforms have changed the way films are distributed, and what this means for independent filmmakers and smaller studios. Second, I’ll look at how digital projection, including things like 3D, has affected the experience of watching films. Third, I’ll examine the role of social media and online marketing in promoting films. Fourth, I’ll explore the problem of piracy in the digital age, and how filmmakers and studios are dealing with it.
The last part of my project will look at the wider impacts of the digital transformation of the film industry. This will give insights into current trends and possible future developments. By looking at these areas, my research will help us understand how digital technologies are changing the film industry. This could help people in the industry make decisions, especially about investing in digital technologies. It could also start wider discussions about the social and economic effects of digital change in different industries.
Through the fellowship, I hope to learn a lot about research processes, especially as it will produce a digital humanities project. I want to understand more about how digital technologies are reshaping industries, especially the film industry. I’m also keen to learn more about digital research tools, which will help me do better, more detailed research.
In addition to learning about these specific areas, I’m also hoping to improve my general research and project management skills. Skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication are useful in lots of different areas, and I think they’ll be really helpful in my future academic and professional work.
Finally, I want to use my research to contribute to academic discussion and to society more widely. I’m aiming to create a project that can be shared with the public, to start discussions about the impacts of digital change and to help people understand how technology is shaping our culture and society. In summary, I’m hoping to learn about the film industry’s digital transformation, improve my digital research skills, develop general research skills, and contribute to wider discussions through this fellowship.
